29er Taster Days

Are you planning to transition but don't what what boat to transition to? Come along to one of our Taster Days and see if the 29er is the boat for you .

Transition taster events are being held to give junior sailors an opportunity to sail a 29er and help them decide whether it is the boat they would like to transition to. At the event, they will have a short sail with an experienced 29er sailor who will be able instruct them in the basics and hopefully let them experience the excitement of skiff sailing. The events are aimed at junior sailors who are planning to transition this year but are also open to older sailors that are considering moving to the 29er.

There will be a choice of joining either a morning or afternoon session. During that session, sailors will be taken out in a RIB and take their turn in the 29er. They will get to see the 29er up close and have a short sail of about 20 mins. For most events, Ovington will be supplying the boats and a member of their staff will be available on shore to answer questions about the boat.

A PB2 qualified parent volunteer will be required for driving the support and safety RIB during each of the sessions.

Details for each event will be sent out to participants but, as a rough guide, the morning session is expected to run from 9am to 12pm and the afternoon session from 1pm to 4pm.

There will be a small charge to help contribute to covering the costs.

To sign up for the event you will need to register for an account on the 29er class OurClubAdmin system. As part of the entry process for the event you will be asked to provide a sail number. You can use the sail number from your current boat or just make one up.
