After waiting all day the fleet finally set off in the late afternoon into perfect sailing and racing conditions. The classic sea breeze filled in and the fleet were once again treated to spectacular sailing and fantastic racing.Huw Humphreys and Max Todd continue to lead the championship with some steady and very confident sailing, they have a comfortable points lead over Dylan Fletcher and Rob Partridge who failed to finish the 10th race through a broken halyard. The rest of the results are still wide open with teams having to count black flags or dnfs through various accidents. It was a good day for Spain, Adriana Romano and Pablo Arandia won the last race of the day by a comfortable margin crossing the line to a huge cheer from the spectator boats.
The fleet came after two races and launched again at 1700 when the sea breeze had settled. With bullets for Huw & Max, John & Oscar, Sophie & Andy and Phil & Matt the British teams continued to pull ahead.
After the first day of racing the British team are filling the top places and dominating the championship. Sailing in perfect sailing conditions that range from 5 knots in the morning to 20 plus in the late afternoon the fleet enjoyed some tight racing.Huw Humphrey"s and Max Todd from Wales head up the results with a 1st and two 2nds, Dylan Fletcher and Rob Partridge lie in 2nd with Phil Walker and Matt Gotrel 3rd,Whilst the wind and water make for great sailing the heat has taken a few casualties, and the black flag a few more.Real Club Nautico Denia with their well organised team have put on a fine event with food before and after sailing.
The first 29erxx regatta will be held in Portland Harbour from the WPNSA. Boats will be supplied and the event is open to any team that would like to take part. The format will be heats and finals, teams will use the 10 boats fitted out ready to race with the xx rig.Racing will take place for the ?Open Cup? on the 31st July and the 1st of August straight after the 29er World and 49er European Championships. The Boats will be available for practice form the afternoon of the 30th.Teams are invited to enter as soon as possible. This weekend"s Glyn Charles Memorial Pursuit Race, run by Hayling Island Sailing Club on Saturday 17 June, was an absolute classic, with 120 dinghy and keelboat entries enjoying closely fought racing around Chichester Harbour? (SailWorld).Sarah Martin & Nicola Groves led the group of ten 29ers, while James Peters & Oli Spensley-Corfield were runners-up in the junior (u16) division. Some great 29er photos at:http://www.sailshots.co.uk/Glynncharles/index.htmlThis annual event is run in memory of Glyn Charles, one of Britain"s greatest sailing talents, who was tragically lost in the 1998 Sydney Hobart Race, and to raise funds for the John Merricks Sailing Trust, set up following the death of Glyn"s great friend John Merricks in a car accident in 1997.

A close fought final race gave the 3 race event to Sophie & Andy, by 1 point from Henry & Dicken. For full event results (and Grand Prix series results to date) - see Events/Results page.

Having won 7 of the first 10 races, Paul Brotherton & Mari Shepherd romped away to win every race and the last day!

Local team Phil Walker and Matt Gotrel won the Draycote Grand Prix with Oscar McViegh and John Mather in hot persuit.
