The RYA have published their new selection policies for Youth Squads, team selection and International Competition Grants.Key points:- introduction of class squad indicator events,- sailors who turn 19 between 1 September and 31 December may now enter National Youth Championships- clarification on International Grant allocation, and RYA and parental responsiblities for competition abroad- primary & secondary squad review indicator events to identify bespoke training and suport needsSee title link for details.
There"s a great entry for the first Grand Prix at Rutland this weekend, so don"t forget your 2009 membership if you want your score to count in the Grand Prix series. Membership forms will be available from committee members at Rutland. Both Helm and Crew must be members of the class association.

We are pleased to announce your committee has secured sponsorship for the 2009 National Grand Prix Series. Harken are to be title sponsors of the six events across the country through the season. The series will be made up of 6 regattas and will culminate in September at Northampton Sailing club. Great prizes, regatta support and a big prize giving will all form part of the series.Four events will count out of the six with the Northampton event being non -discardable.The big prize giving party will be on the Saturday night of the Northampton event. We want your views on what sort of prizegiving you want at the Nationals this year. If you haven"t already done so, why not join the facebook group 29er Sailors UK (follow title link), and have your say on what sort of social you want, as well as having the opportunity to express your views on any other aspects of the class in the UK. (The group is monitored by our sailor reps - so relevant discussion and genuine 29er sailors only please)
The 29er UK class association will have 2 boats on show at the RYA Dinghy Show to be held at Alexandra Palace on the 7th and 8th of March. We have had alot of requests from people keen to try sailing 29ers but not having access to a boat to try out. Dave Hall and Ovington Boats have organised 3 demo days to give people the chance to experience the thrills and spills of 29er sailing for themselves, with a 4th to be organised somewhere on the South Coast. Details are on the events calendar. With the 29er now an Open ISAF Youth Worlds class, there are opportunities for everyone to get involved in this exciting class. Come and have a go - you won"t look back!
2009 Membership became due on January 1st. Please send your membership form (available from the Class Association Page) to Jane Furness and in return you will get the New 2009 Member"s Handbook and a free sticker and of course you will then be able to take part in all the exciting events organised for 2009 both here in the UK and abroad.
