Anyone who is concerned about a young member’s or participant’s welfare, either outside the sport or within the 29er Class, should inform the 29er Class Welfare Officer or Class Chair immediately, in strict confidence. You can find contact details in the guidelines, and on our website here:
Message from Rutland Sailing Club - their overflow car park is closed (too boggy) so no motorhomes/campervans are allowed on site other than for dropping off. They are trying to organise off site parking but are not sure if they will find any. If you are planning on travelling plus van, give the club a call to check the latest position.
As you are aware Summer 2019 has lots of fantastic 29er events - please can you help us to plan our 29er National Championships at Pwllheli and transportation requirements by completing the attached very short survey (it has two questions!)
The dates for the events are as follows:
- 29er World Championships Gydnia 26th July-3rd August 2018
- 29er National Championships Pwllhelli 7th-11th August 2018
- 29er European Championships Arco, Lake Garda 16th-24th August 2018
Please can you complete your responses to the survey by 1st December 2018.
You can view minutes of meetings and other class documents at any time via our website, by selecting 'Everything Else' -> 'Documents' from the main menu.
On Saturday Evening (1st December) we've organised the, now famous, 29er Class Christmas Party at Rutland Sailing Club. This will be a fantastic Christmas meal with all the trimmings followed by a disco / karaoke. Please do come, both parents and sailors. It should be fun. There isn't a formal dress code, but something Christmassy would be good (last year there were some amazing jumpers on display!!).
Tickets are £15 and can be ordered on the event website here:
Please click here to order your Christmas Party Tickets
Once you are logged in click 'Saturday Evening Christmas Party' beneath the event name on the 'Home' page to purchase your meal tickets.
Can we please ask all planning to come (and we hope that's everybody) to sign up by Saturday 23rd November) as we need to give numbers to the Rutland caterers.
The dates for the 2019 29er Nationals in Pwllheli have now been announced. The event will run from Tuesday (measuring) to Sunday 6th - 11th August. More details to follow shortly.
Late last month Shirley Robertson and CNN Sport joined the 29er UK Class Association at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy to look at how weather affects racing. Check out this month's Mainsail programme by clicking below.
Do you have a RIB that you could bring along to Class events? If so, we would love to hear from you.
The safety of our sailors is really important, and we are always looking for parents and supporters who have RIBs that they are willing to bring along to our racing and training events as part of our safety fleet. This is a great way to get involved with the class and be part of our events, as well as providing an opportunity to see our sailors in action at close quarters.
If you have a RIB that you could bring to 29er Training and or GP Events, please do get in touch by emailing our class secretary Lisa.
The Minutes from the UK 29er Class Association Annual General Meeting held at HISC on the 28th July 2018 are now available to view.
RYA Profiling will take place over the weekend of 9th and 10th February 2019 (most of the testing will be done on Saturday 9th February.) Testing will be offered around the country and home counties. Sailors looking for inclusion in the RYA Youth Squads should plan to attend this weekend.
The RYA will publish further details in the next few weeks of how this will work with selections and details of how the sailors can meet the physical demands necessary for the squads.
