GBR women take 3rd place
Very few all female pairs were able to compete against the strength and weight of the men in the demanding Lake Garda conditions. Of 48 crews, only 4 made silver fleet, the remainder fighting it out in bronze and emerald. Leading the way most of the time were Becky Diamond and Fiona Hampshire, who missed Gold fleet qualification by just 10 points. However, their hopes of becoming World Champions disappeared to the bottom of the Lake together with their broken rudder pin on the last day of racing, meaning they finished in a very creditable 3rd place. In the Silver Fleet, Adam Larvin and Ed Chapman showed the way, again leading most of the week, but just losing out to Americans Paris Henken and Chris Rast in the lighter breeze on the final day. Phil Walker and John Mather were 3rd counting 3 race wins.
